Bill and I got stuck in traffic tonight on our way across town so here are some shots I got while sitting for 1 hr and 45 minutes. Overpass, Burnside Bridge walkway, Morrison Bridge Span, moon, self explanatory.
shooting out of a car window is hard.so no CC here as most of the things can not be helped under those conditions. my favorite is the sail boat nice shot ! the last shot of the sign work well for negative space too!
Woohoo! Great use of time and great shots for taking out of a car window!!! My favorite is the sail boat too, but here is what I'm not sure about. What I understand with Negative Space...you have to be careful not to compete your object with our background and my eye wanted to go to the mountains as well as the sail boat. The shot itself is absolutely gorgeous! I just don't know if it fits negative space. Perhaps someone can clear it up for me?
Yeah Gayle, I'm always confused about the negative space thing too. My idea with the sailboat picture was that it was all pretty much the same color except for the mountains. I'm trying to picture this in an actual "negative" as if I had taken a picture with an old camera. What I'd see in the shot. Hummmmm? Or, if you've every stared at someone (like giving a lecture) and you close your eyes and the image remains in your brain but it's reversed. Maybe I'm the only weirdo to experience this but I was kind of trying to imagine negative space as what I would see with my eyes closed.
I have to say my fav is the sailboat shot. My idea of negative space for this particular shot would be if all you captured in the shot is the boat and the water, nothing else. the word Negative is actually meaning like dead or blank space. I'm not sure I follow you when your speaking about negative as with old film... and pertaining to Negative space in a photo. But I do want to say that I really like that you used your time to see the scenery around you ffrom your car and get the shots that you got, they are very interesting and kind of artsy.

You have some nice negative space shots in here. The one of the over pass walkway is my favorite negative space picture.

Your Photo of the Rose is a perfect axample of negative space!
nice and way to have your camera with you!!
My fav is the sailboat too, but I see how the rose is a really wonderful use of negative space. I love the rose against the blue.
